Sexy feet!? Reference sheet...

Posted by ShiroiAkuma - December 3rd, 2013

Next storm is coming it should be more dangerous than the last one...

Currently I'm studying feet and make a big tutorial and reference sheet for everyone of it, because I struggle a lot with them. With a lot of guest stars from different shows and eroges. So it's about anatomy/poses/turnarounds etc.

You can still suggest characters you want to see if you want too.

It could be also your own OCs or from you favorite show. When tutorial is finished I will provide credits to the original creators of course.

Also I looked for the difference between female and male feet and try to present it in funny ways.

Also I will show how much the differences between the shoes (proportionally) between both genders.

Guest stars on this preview: Madame V.D. from Syukusho Gakuen "Formerly known as Shrink School/Shrink High or official as Reduction School" it's a free game: http://www.melonbooks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=IT0000152993 there is also translation of this game out there somewhere and Hideyoshi Kinoshita from Baka To Test To Shoukanjuu

Also this was Blog test. Wo was the guy with the idea to make the color of the selection also black?

I agree, feet are surprisingly difficult to draw. In fact, I actually left the feet out of my first piece of newb art (not a great piece, but it was a beginner attempt) and just drew the figure as if she was standing in water. Still, I think the way you draw quite slender, female feet is wonderful.
I think it's good that you choose to study one particular element of the body, I reckon you'll sharpen your feet-drawing skills quicker this way. I'm still doodling and wondering what to draw, if you have any ideas then I'd like to attempt them. :P

Also, your English is not poor, as you told me in your review reply. It is fine, believe me. There are some people over here in England that are born speaking English, yet the way the talk and write sentences is atrocious.
Take care.

I have a lot of ideas, but to get a good result you need your own I think. If you don't have any ideas it's may an Artist block (good videos at the end of my very short reply). You won't solve it when you draw others people work. Except you don't have an Artist Block and you just want to draw something that you normally won't think of. So basically you want to expand your own creativity. I do mostly niche group themes and motives so there isn't any kind of oversupply (I don't know if I'm the correct person to give you ideas). The advantage is that I have a small but solid fan base. But so far drawing is just my hobby.

So instead I will explain how I could may get my ideas (Feel free to draw them if you like them, but I'm sure it's not your kind of stuff, but I don't know you so maybe it could be):
Ideas come suddenly in my mind. Mostly, if I lie in bed and try to fall asleep I sometimes encourage new design ideas through imagination. But if I get an Idea I already have a pose and perspective visually but rather unclear in mind. Actually I think intentionally too much about feet in the last time, so for example I have a picture in my mind where Natsuru Senô (Female Kämpfer version) is sitting with crossed legs on a chair while Akane Mishima looks very surprised at the foot while also Akane splaying Natsurus big toe and the pinky. And look closely at them. While Natsuru is clearly embarrassed/shocked.

Also someone suggested the End of Atlantide to me, I was looking at too much Doujinshiis from the Circle "阿修羅女画帖"
Ashurame-gajo bought the last one here:
http://www.melonbooks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=IT0000167169

And I have been as always impressed by the Illustrations from Eichikei (more known as Hakuto) the Anzu Futaba from the IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls is really nice I like her character design, so I suddenly imagined a Giantess that crushed the poor Atlantide (Atlantis).

So what I want to say is you can also get inspired or influenced by the themes and motives from other illustrations you watch.

If you are interested in Monster Girls for example, half girl, half human you should take a look at
http://monstergirlquest.wikia.com/wiki/MonsterGirlQuest_Wiki

This Game has many different kinds of Monsters. Elementals, Slime, Arachne, Lamia (or else Naga), Alraune etc. And you might want to draw your own monster girl in a new epic pose or else.

So watch Illustrations and get inspired by them. Or look what you like about them, and maybe you got the idea to mix certain aspects of the pictures. For example you like the motive or the idea of a Giantess, you also like the idea of Lamias and also you think Atlantide could be good for an epic dark themed Illustration, so perhaps you got the idea to draw a Giantess Lamia that is destroying Atlantide while Atlantide is also defends itself. When you got a basic plan which character you want to draw in your stlye or if you create a new OC or make fanart. Then you can also think about the perspective.

What is more impressive?
A bird's eye view from far away, or a one where the viewer is in the city while looking up to the giant lamia girl which can also make a cool foreshortend pose.

So in short I don't think it is good to ask someone else if he had an idea what you could draw. Because if it's not your idea and your are not really into it you won't put much effort in it. Especially beginners and newbies should draw things they are like or characters they are into.
If you get more experienced you will definitley also enjoy to draw other stuff from other people even if you are not into it. Because when you get better drawing gets way more fun and you'll search for new challenges.

Thank you so much for the advice, Shiroi, it has inspired me greatly. I subscribed to your YouTube channel as well, that seems very informative.

I agree with what you say about drawing things that the artist likes. I am really into an adventure game called Dark Cloud (it was a childhood favourite that I played in 2004). There is some brilliant fan-art of the game that I have seen on DeviantArt, but I feel there could be more. I might attempt some fan-art myself, since I am always imagining different characters of the game in dynamic, attractive poses.

I too gain a lot of ideas at night since I listen to a lot of music around that time. I'll see if I can bring one of these ideas to the surface and accomplish a decent piece.

You have given me much to think about on the subject of improving my art. Also, I must thank you for including some references and links. There are very few artists on NG who provide as much support and suggestions like this.

I thank you again, and the best of luck to you with your feet study. :)

I'm glad if I could help you. I must admit it's sad the community is rather inactive on Newgrounds, there are just a few people. I think, in the future I even won't ask for any suggestions for current projects in Blog Posts on NG anymore. It's a bit sad that I can't post any surveys here. Maybe in the forum? Maybe the community is more active there.

Fanart is always a good way to improve, because if you choose a character that already exist you don't need to struggle with designing for your own character. At the very beginning it's better when you just draw things you are into, that's right. Later on you can ask other people for ideas or maybe you are that skilled that you can also make commissions.

I never heard of Dark Cloud before, but it seems that it is a rather nice RPG with Simulation elements.

I will hope that today no one gets any harm due to the new storm. It should be longer and stronger than the last one. With approximately 124,274238 mph. And I'm living in the area where is the highest warning level. And we have many trees near the house. (◑.◑)
